About Us
The Salon Wellness Coalition unites community advocates, hair salon workers, salon owners, and researchers from Maryland to improve public health by focusing on the wellness of hairstylists and hairdressers and the communities they serve. Our mission is to promote wellness in vulnerable and underserved populations, and to be involved in collaborative women’s health research to inform inclusive public health policies. By transforming salons into hubs for holistic health and well-being, we aim to share resources to holistically address overall wellness. Our work is about equity, empowerment, and building healthier communities.

By harnessing the collective expertise, resources, and passion of our partners, we are improving women’s wellness in underserved communities.
Our Coalition aims to break down barriers, amplify voices and create pathways to health and success. This isn’t just about building a network—it’s about constructing a foundation for lasting change, where every salon becomes a beacon of health, and every salon worker a champion of personal and community wellness. Together, we seek to reshape and support communities one empowered woman at a time.
